Wang Zhigang's new still life explores emptiness. Here are two bottles. One is transparent; one is opaque and fire-engine red. There are two X-rays: One is clear; one is occluded. Emptiness is the space in between that we need to breathe. Since 2008, Wang has explored the value of emptiness in over two thousand painted images of the Buddha, each a 6-inch square (15 x 15 cm).
